AGC invests in Lodelinsart (Belgium) to extend its high-performance coated glass range

AGC Glass Europe, the European branch of world leading glass manufacturer AGC, announces a major investment to upgrade its magnetron coater in Lodelinsart (Belgium). This ambitious initiative represents a significant capital injection and underlines AGC's ongoing commitment to meet its customers’ growing needs.

AGC Lodelinsart is known for its high-quality silver-based coated glass, sold all around the world. Its coater produces low emissivity and solar control coatings. Coatings are extremely thin, almost invisible layers of metal and metal oxide that are deposited on the glass to give it better thermal insulation and/or protection against solar radiation. AGC has for years been committed to developing products that contribute to sustainable architecture. Its high-performance coated glass plays an important role in improving the energy-efficiency of buildings and thus reducing their energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. 

The technology upgrade will enable the extension of the product range to new high-performance coatings and it will improve the flexibility required to manufacture complex and innovative coated glass products, thereby further strengthening the competitiveness of the AGC Lodelinsart coater. The upgraded line is expected to be operational by the third quarter of this year.

At the Lodelinsart site, AGC also produces vacuum glazing for the architectural market.
