I have a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, with a doctorate in simulation. As a research leader at the R&D Centre, I am responsible for a project that involves results, resources and planning. In particular, I am in charge of an ad-hoc multidisciplinary team. This means that I have to prepare the pre-project phase and the general environment, and define the project and the objectives to be attained. I participate in all the main stages, in coordination with Marketing and Production, while having a great deal of independence. | |
What I like most is the diversity of the work. The people management aspect and the numerous interactions with persons from very different backgrounds are very enriching. I have now been a research leader for two years, and I realise that I have considerably enriched my own background. The management training that you receive at AGC Glass Europe is very useful, as this is something you don’t learn at university. People management, project management, getting a group of people to pursue a shared objective – these are all essential for understanding problems in their entirety, and I can truthfully say that this has taught me a great deal.
What motivates me most in the work is the visibility: I know what I am doing, and what makes my contribution different from other people’s. I also know that I am not just a number!
