Intellectual property We have a team of patent attorneys whose responsibility is to defend intellectual property rights. Their two main duties are: - to make sure that the research being carried out is not covered by patents held by other companies, and so is free to be used;
- to apply for patents in various countries around the world so as to protect our inventions, and to challenge competitors who try to copy the patent-protected processes or products developed by AGC Glass Europe.

This department is also very active in:
- enforcing our patent right against third parties
- defending AGC Glass Europe against all legal actions connected with patents held by other companies;
- buying and selling licences covering technologies of interest to AGC Glass Europe;
- protecting the trade marks used by AGC Glass Europe.
These patent attorneys work in close collaboration not only with the R&D teams but also with the Production, Sales and Legal departments. They are involved in decisions concerning the group’s technological strategy.
We seek people with a scientific degree (master’s in chemical or mechanical engineering, PhD or other suitable degree) who would like to become patent attorneys, or who already have experience in the field of industrial property. You will receive on-the-job training by working alongside experienced specialists, together with training provided by specialised bodies. In this way, within four or five years you will obtain the experience and legal qualifications required to work as a patent attorney.
